WORLD SHOOT XV UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 2008

An update on WSXV, only 5 weeks to go before the "Adventure in Paradise" begins.

COMPETITORS - list is closed with 1,008 competitors registered in the Main Match, and another 103 competitors registered in the Pre-Match. Statistics show that the Divisions are broken down as follows: Open 34%, Standard 30%, Production 28%, Modified 5% and Revolver 3%.

MATCH OFFICIALS – The WSXV will have a total of 100 dedicated people all eagerly looking forward to assisting competitors under the watchful eye and cheery demeanour of IROA Range Master Chepit Dulay and his trusted IROA Deputy Robby Atmadja. A full list of the Range Officials can be found on the WSXV web site.

There's no shortage of support staff either, with 170 range crew just handling target patching and resetting, plus another two dozen or so people assisting in various other capacities. The Match Motto "Adventure in Paradise" applies to the range and to the après-shoot activities! I think we must give our hearty thanks to these people at any chance we get.

SQUADDING & TEAMS - has been completed. After observing the traditional IPSC "seeding" protocols for Teams, based on placing’s from the last World Shoot, all other squadding requests have been satisfied. Further changes cannot be accepted now.

A full list of all official Region teams can also be found on the WSXV web site.

COURSES OF FIRE - have been approved and the match has officially been sanctioned as Level V by IPSC HQ. The Courses of Fire should be available for download from the World Shoot website on or after 30 September.

FIREARMS & AMMUNITION IMPORT PERMIT - A copy of the English translation can be found on this web page. Please note that changes or additions to the list cannot be accepted now.

OFFICIAL MATCH AMMUNITION - OMA was shipped from Manila on 24 August, and is now sailing towards Indonesia. The expected arrival date is 11 September in Jakarta and about a week later in Bali. Statistics reveal that over 40% of competitors have ordered OMA.

IROA LEVEL I AND LEVEL II SEMINARS - Limited vacancies are still available. Seat requests can be made online at the World Shoot website. All interested RO’s attending the WS should make their requests ASAP.

PHOTO FOR IDENTITY CARD - In an effort to reduce Match Check-In processing times, we have now been asked to obtain two (2) colour photos, each measuring 3 cm x 4 cm, from everyone in our Region attending WSXV. This includes all competitors, all partners, all parents, all guardians etc) and all Range Officials. Please write the name of the person in felt pen on the rear of both photos and then forward them to me by 25 September 2008 to the address below:

  • Gareth Graham – IPSC Australia
  • GPO Box 3293
  • DARWIN NT 0801
  • I will then forward all photos to the WSXV match organisers. As we are a large region the WSXV match organisers will not allow us to submit the photos digitally.

Regards

Any IPSC member who has a stay over in Perth either on their way to or from Bali will require a WA firearms permit for the duration of their stay. WA does not recognise interstate licences and therefore anyone staying over in WA with a firearm or ammunition without a permit will be breaking the law. Permits are easy to get and I have attached the application form. Members should not leave this until the last minute to arrange.
