John Alman

IPSC Australia Member #1

It is with sadness that I advise members of the news of the passing of another of our long time members and gentlemen of our sport, John Alman, on Thursday 14th August.

John was one of our earliest members and represented Australia at the World Shoot in South Africa, 1977. John had been a tireless worker for IPSC in Australia as Section Coordinator for many years in is home state of Western Australia. He was also heavily involved in the continual improvement of our Range Officials being the top NROI official in WA for many years with a wealth of experience and many a match under his belt.

John was always a quite and helpful individual that truly enjoyed his shooting. He was passionate about all aspects of IPSC and was always involved in some level whether it was at a local Club, State, National or International level. He was a respected member and contributor.

John always enjoyed shooting his old .45 and I recall shooting with him in the late 90’s and I swear he was still using the same rig that he used in South Africa many years before. It would have truly been difficult for John to give up his .45.

I know John will be sorely missed by those that knew him and had worked with him for the betterment of our great sport. John should be remembered by all including those new to the sport as a gentleman that put his heart in IPSC for everyone’s enjoyment.

John will be well remembered by all that knew him both here in Australia and those in our extended IPSC family overseas.

On behalf of IPSC Australia and its members, I pass on our condolences to John’s family and friends. Rest In Peace John.

Ken Carter

IPSC Member & Champion

It is with sadness that I advise members of the news of the passing of one of our long time members and gentlemen, Ken Carter, this Sunday 20th July.

Ken had been heavily involved in many aspects of IPSC over the past 23 years since his first Nationals at his home club in Blacktown. Ken had gone on to win the National Championships twice, in 1989 and then again in 1992. He also represented Australia as a member of the Australian Team in the ‘90 and ‘93 World Shoots.

Ken also served as the NSW Section Coordinator for many years; he always had the member’s and sports best interest at heart.

It was great to shoot with Ken at any match, as he was always helpful and supportive; even though he may have been in a different team or competing against you. It was always a pleasure to catch up with Ken at the Nationals each year and discuss a variety of issues, IPSC related or not. He will be sorely missed.

On behalf of IPSC Australia and its members, I would like to offer our most sincere condolences to Ken’s family. I commend Ken, personally and on behalf of IPSC for his efforts and support of every aspect of IPSC, with his coaching, gun smithing, Sports administration and more, how he assisted many people to learn an appreciation for and enjoy IPSC shooting.

Ken you will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the IPSC community, and our thoughts are with his family at this time.
